Echo Park by Michael Connelly is another of Harry Bosch novels. Bosch is a detective in the Los Angeles Police Department. He has a tendency to face his superiors and to contempt proceedings, but it works in the rule, because it is a good detective instinct is so good and because his superiors professionals in Los Angeles police are so often damaged. This is a rare Harry Bosch novel, which does not shine a bright light on the Los Angeles Police Department, and this is no exceptionto this rule.
The story begins with the echo of a case that Bosch had not solved the case, Marie Gesto. Marie Gesto disappeared after walking to a supermarket. Bosch had approached the case with his characteristic enthusiasm and had never let go, but not solve it, and now, years later, it seems a serial killer accused ready to admit the killing and lead authorities to the body. The prosecutor called Bosch to question the killer to make sure it saysTruth, because confession is part of a plea bargain to save the murderer from the death penalty.
Mephisto
begins just before the confession, the DA called attention to the wizard for the test that Bosch and his partner would lose. One clue that led directly to the killer and can prevent other murders committed the murder. The communication was designed to Bosch for putting out of his game, and it does, but Bosch is a relentless pursuer of the truth, and if hediscovered that the idea has "lost" had been added only recently (in other words, someone had tampered with the test file), a second, secret, the first: who did it and why?
The plot of the serial killer to confess to the crime is devastating to a spectacular conclusion, and escapes the killer. Bosch how he feels and kills him in a shootout, but he feels a bureaucratic hostilities, who read both the actual killer Gesture, and the entire story takes youbehind the false confession.
Echo Park is a complicated story full of misdirection and created a variety of reasons, as all are stories of Connolly, with great energy and skill. I can not remember a single bad guy to live his last meeting with Bosch, but in most of the stories Bosch maintains a sort of purity. It is considered a "pure detective work." In Echo Park, on the other hand, cuts a few corners Bosch, and he was more than a little 'cynical about the way he put the final scene. One wonders whether the financial request to work with the police in Los Angeles took their toll. Bosch was a much less sympathetic character through the last chapter, when it is already in previous stories about him.
